2009 Camaro Convertible Concept
After wetting our appetites with the sneak peak of the new Camaro Convertible, Chevrolet brought the real thing out on stage today at the Detroit Auto Show. The bright tangerine-like orange gave quite the glow as it pulled down the runway. Chevy is definitely on to something with this car, and it will likely sell like hotcakes.

The retro looks, black stripes, and dual exhaust create an attitude that many convertibles just can't pull off. Surprisingly, the convertible looks meaner and meatier than the hardtop version. It looks as though the car was built for the drop top, not just added on after the design process was finished.

The Camaro will likely feature the LS2 engine, probably producing around 400 horsepower. Several options will surely be available engine wise, as Hot Rod Magazine recently did a fan based survey on which options people would pay for on the new Camaros. Chevy really seems to care about what its customers are wanting from this car. They have 7 years to make up for, and they want to do it right the first time. A V6 option as well as the Z28 and SS packages are sure to find their way onto dealership floors. There will be something for everything, and Ford and Dodge will have to find ways with their Mustang and Challenger to keep their customers from leaving the ship and heading to the Chevy dealership.

With the Pony cars ready to gear back up, the Camaro seems poised to take on the competition. The next few months should be interesting as test cars start to appear on the roads of America. With a release date scheduled in 2008, we will be seeing more and more news. Stay tuned to Planet Camaro and RPM Planets as that news comes to us.
