A recent article from the Post-Gazette.com points at the July issue of Motor Trend having detail about a new twist on the new Chevrolet Camaro concept: a drop-top. Supposedly, General Motors has already approved a convertible Camaro for production. Recent reports around various industry news sites all point to the Camaro concept hitting production, but there is still some hesitation as the business case behind the scenes has not been completed. It is assumed that GM will need to move 100,000 Camaros in order to see a positive return from the venture; a convertible offering will likely speed sales. |

Have you ever wondered how the prospective Chevrolet Camaro would match up against todays ponycar champ, the Ford Mustang? Since only one car is a reality right now, a virtual reality has been used to create a simulation as to how both cars measure up. Motor Trend has three distinct simulations, with runs at a dragstrip, a slalom, and a figure 8 course. Better still, each car can be compared in three performance levels: V6 specs, the Camaro Z28 vs. the Mustang Boss 330, and the Camaro ZL-1 vs. the Mustang GT500. Keep reading to view an assortment of screenshots or click to here to visit MT and run the simulations. |

Following a successful public event, Camaro #01 is soon to be prepped and delivered to Dave Flynn, its new owner, at his Ohio Chevrolet dealership next week. Two more Camaros are under construction in the series of 12 being produced. This limited run of SS-427 and Phase III big-block 540 Camaros hold price tags of $169,000 and $189,000, respectively. Flynn's Camaro is powered by a 565 cubic inch Motion big-block and features a 5-speed transmission, new Motion IRS rear suspension, eight piston front and three piston Motion/SSB disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, a supple red leather custom interior, Sony sound system, air conditioning, and all power amenities. This car holds a delivered sticker price just under $250,000. Check out more of Baldwin's projects. |

RPM Planets is taking a look at the future. With that, we are pleased to report that 2009 seems to be the projected date for the reincarnated Camaro. With a rumored base price of $20,000 for the V6 and a 400HP LS2 as an option, we cannot speculate as to how much of the sheetmetal will remain intact, we can only hope that the production model will stay true to the concept. |

Rumor has it that the Camaro, if approved, will debut for the 2010 model year. The base engine is expected to be the corporate 3.9 V6, with two possible V8 choices, the 5.3 & 6.0. No 7.0 monster, though; that is reserved for the Corvette. Click here to read more! |

According to the folks over at Autospies, they have an inside scoop on the inevitable production of the Camaro. They also go on to state that "according to sources" there will be a Firebird/Trans Am built along side it. More from Autospies |

OK, so we all love the way the new Camaro looks, but can GM
build it? They currently have no RWD platform that can be adapted
to its new concept darling. Ford already has its Mustang, &
Daimler Chrysler can adapt its LX RWD platform, but where can
Chevrolet turn to get its RWD platform?
Do you come from the land Down Under?
You know where the new GTO came from. Australia has had cool RWD
cars for awhile now, & they've been working on a new platform
that could be a feasible base for Chevy's new muscle car. GM
should already know this, but let's remind them: if you build
it, they will come...
